Frequently Asked Questions about Toddler Golf Gear
How do I know which product is right for my child's height and age?
All three products in this collection are sized for the same range: ages 2–5, heights 30"–45". The putter is 21.5" long, designed so a child in that height range can stand naturally without hunching. The bag is 24" tall and 2.1 lbs, light enough for a 3-year-old to carry independently. The glove fits hands up to 5.75" from wrist crease to fingertip. If your child is at the upper edge of this range (approaching 45" tall or age 5+), check the individual product pages for the next size up.
Is this gear appropriate for a 2-year-old, or is it more suited to 4- and 5-year-olds?
Several of our customers have introduced the gear to children as young as 2, with great results. The key is the ultra-lightweight design — the putter is light enough for a 2-year-old to swing without strain, and the bag is light enough for them to carry independently. At age 2 the focus is just on having fun and mimicking what they see parents doing. By ages 4 and 5 they'll start developing real technique.
What is the best starter set for a toddler who is just getting into golf?
The ideal first setup for a toddler ages 2–5 is the Putter + Golf Bag + Glove combination. Putting is the most accessible skill for young children — it builds hand-eye coordination and the thrill of "making it in the hole" without the complexity of a full swing. The bag teaches them ownership and independence over their equipment, and the glove helps establish proper grip pressure from day one.
Are there options for girls specifically?
Yes — the golf bag and glove are both available in Pink, which has become one of the most popular configurations in the collection. The Pink bag with the Pink glove is a coordinated set that young girls love, and it pairs with the putter (available in one color) for a complete first golf kit. Several customers have noted it makes an exceptional gift for a toddler girl in a golf family.
What is the best golf gift for a toddler in a golf family?
The full Drake & Birdie set — putter, stand bag, and leather glove — is consistently the most-gifted combination for birthdays, Christmas, and Father's Day in golf families. Kids in golf households are already watching their parents play and desperately want to participate. Having their own real bag and real club (not a toy) is a completely different experience that parents and grandparents consistently describe as one of the best gifts they've given. The Pink bag and glove combo is especially popular for girls ages 2–5.
What age is Drake & Birdie golf gear designed for?
Every product in this collection is specifically engineered for children ages 2 to 5 years old, corresponding to heights between 30" and 45" tall. This is a deliberately narrow focus — most "junior" golf gear on the market actually starts at age 5 or 6, leaving toddlers with nothing that properly fits. Drake & Birdie exists to fill exactly that gap.
What's the difference between Drake & Birdie gear and a plastic toddler golf toy set?
The difference is real equipment versus a toy. Plastic and hollow-metal toy sets found at big-box stores often fail to replicate the real swing feel, teach poor grip habits, and typically break within a season. Drake & Birdie gear uses a stainless steel putter head, a 100% leather golf glove, and a nylon stand bag with a real dual-strap system — all proportionally scaled for toddler dimensions. The goal is proper muscle memory and genuine love for the game, not just keeping a kid entertained for an afternoon.
Who started Drake & Birdie and why?
Drake & Birdie was founded by Justin and Kyleigh — golf parents who couldn't find properly sized, high-quality gear for their own toddler daughter. Everything in big-box stores was either a plastic toy or adult equipment scaled down without thought for a 2-year-old's proportions and strength. They built the gear they wished existed, with a specific mission: "More Green Time, Less Screen Time."

How to Choose Golf Gear for Ages 2-5
Most "junior" golf clubs are designed for kids ages 5–8, making them too heavy and too long for true toddlers. A 3-year-old handed an oversized club will compensate with poor posture, develop bad habits, and lose interest fast. When choosing toddler golf gear, three specs matter above everything else.
Length determines posture. Our putter at 21.5 inches allows a child between 30" and 45" tall to address the ball with a natural stance, no hunching, no choking down. This is the single most important factor in building correct swing mechanics from the start.
Weight determines whether they carry it themselves. Our stand bag at 2.1 lbs is light enough for most 2-year-olds to carry independently. A bag that's too heavy gets handed back to the parent after two holes, which defeats the entire purpose of building independence and love for the game.
Grip size determines control. Standard junior grips are too thick for toddler hands, which forces a weak grip and poor clubface control. Our junior pistol-style putter grip and XS leather glove are sized proportionally for hands up to 5.75 inches — giving small golfers the same feel and control an adult experiences with properly fitted equipment.

Why Drake & Birdie
We are golf parents who spent months looking for real, properly sized equipment for our daughter. We couldn't find it, so we built it. Every product in this collection came from a specific frustration: putters that were too long, bags that were too heavy, gloves that bunched up on tiny hands.
Drake & Birdie exists to bridge the gap between plastic toy sets that get tossed in the closet and adult-scaled junior gear that frustrates toddlers before they have had a chance to fall in love with the game. Every spec is intentional. Every piece is tested. And every product ships with a 30-day free return guarantee because we stand behind what we make.
