Real leather gloves naturally break in and conform to the hand with use, which is actually a benefit — the fit gets better over time, not worse. To keep the glove in good shape, let it air dry naturally after use (don't leave it balled up wet in a bag) and store it flat. Avoid machine washing.

Is this a left glove or a right glove — and what's the difference?

This is a Left Hand glove, which is the standard glove for right-handed golfers. "Left Hand glove" = worn on the left hand = correct for a right-handed child. This is one of the most common points of confusion when buying golf gloves. If your child swings right-handed (like the vast majority of kids), this is the correct glove. If your child is left-handed and swings left, they would need a Right Hand glove, which we currently do not carry but are considering based on customer demand.

How is this different from a standard junior golf glove you'd find at a big-box store?

Most "junior" golf gloves at big-box retailers start at a Small or Medium size, which is still far too large for a 2–4 year old. They bunch in the palm, slide off the fingers, and are usually made from synthetic material that doesn't grip as well. The Drake & Birdie XS is a true extra-small — the only size specifically engineered for toddler hand proportions — made from 100% genuine leather.

What age and hand size is the XS glove designed for?

This glove is made for children ages 2 to 5 years old with a hand measurement of up to 5.75 inches from the wrist crease to the tip of the middle finger. It's the smallest kids' golf glove on the market — purpose-built so it doesn't bunch, slip, or fall off a toddler's hand the way adult or standard junior sizes do.

How do I measure my child's hand to confirm the right fit?

Lay your child's dominant hand flat, palm facing up. Use a soft measuring tape (or a strip of paper you can mark and measure) to measure from the crease at the bottom of the palm to the tip of the middle finger. If that measurement is 5.75 inches or under, the XS is the right fit. For kids between 5 and 8 years old with hands measuring 5.75"–6.00", a Small (S) would be the next size up.

Which hand does my child wear the glove on?

Accepted Answer

Golf gloves are worn on the non-dominant hand — meaning a right-handed golfer wears the glove on the left hand, and a left-handed golfer wears it on the right hand. This glove is currently offered in Left Hand (LH) only, which is correct for right-handed golfers. If your child is left-handed, this glove will not be the right fit — reach out to us directly and let us know, as demand from lefty families is something we're actively tracking.

They don't need one to swing — but it makes a real difference. A properly fitted leather glove helps young hands grip the club consistently without squeezing, which reduces tension and builds better technique from day one. Kids also absolutely love wearing one because it makes them feel like a real golfer. For most toddlers, the glove itself becomes one of their favorite parts of getting ready to play.
